The Story

The Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) is the iconic symbol of the Pleistocene Ice Age. Standing up to 12 feet tall with massive tusks extending nearly 9 feet, these magnificent creatures once roamed the frozen northern hemisphere. This curated box offers a portable and protected display of that vanished world. Each framed window-box contains two distinct biological links to the late Pleistocene: a genuine fragment of mammoth ivory and a genuine lock of mammoth hair. Recovered from the permafrost of Southwestern Siberia, these fragments are over 12,000 years old and serve as a remarkable sign of the diversity and history of the Earth's past inhabitants.
