Sand Tiger Shark Teeth
📍 Only available for shipment in Tunisia
The Story
These fossilized teeth belong to the extinct Striatolamia genus, a formidable relative of modern Sand Tiger and Grey Nurse sharks. Dating back to the Eocene epoch approximately 50 million years ago, these predators patrolled the ancient Tethys Sea, which once covered what is now the Khouribga Province of Morocco. Known for reaching lengths of up to 350 centimeters, these sharks possessed specialized teeth with distinct vertical ridges—the striations for which they are named—designed for grasping slippery prey. As some of the most enduring biological structures in the natural world, these teeth serve as a profound sign of the intricate designs of ancient marine life.
