Orthoceras Pendant Necklace

The Story
This pendant features a genuine Orthoceras, an extinct genus of straight-shelled cephalopod that inhabited the ancient seas approximately 400 million years ago. Related to the modern-day squid and octopus, the Orthoceras lived within a long, conical shell divided into internal chambers, which it used to control buoyancy as it moved through the water. Recovered from the Devonian deposits of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, these fossils are expertly polished to reveal the intricate internal structures of the shell. Wearing an Orthoceras is a way to carry a piece of the deep past—a tangible sign of the ancient biological designs that have existed across the Earth's long eras.
